Launch787 was founded in March, 2009 by the original Founder and Publisher of Austin's own Rare Magazine. Launch787 exists solely to produce unique, interesting, out-of-the-box events that become the talk of the town. The principals of Launch787 are:

Matt Swinney

Matt Swinney was born right here in Austin, Texas. After attending Austin High School, he went to Trinity University in San Antonio. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with Concentrations in Marketing and International Business. Professionally, he interned with the Media Relations department at Columbia TriStar Television (Sony Pictures) in Los Angeles before taking a real job with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in Houston. Working with clients like Halliburton, Conoco, Bank of America, BioSpace.com, Energy.com and Quaris, Matt realized the corporate world wasn’t for him.

He and his new wife, Kara, moved to San Francisco so he could begin a web-driven career with Moai Technologies. After a year, the tech bust hit and the layoff writing was on the wall, so the couple moved back to Austin. It was back in Texas that the publishing career began with a throwaway real estate magazine called “For Sale By Owner and Builder.” Not loving the real estate industry, but certainly loving the magazine world, Matt began Rare Magazine in October 2004. In March 2009, Matt left the day-to-day operations of Rare Magazine and began Launch787 with Stephen and Andrew.

In June 2007, Kara and Matt had their first child, Sadie Belle Swinney. Today, family and business are still chugging along.

Stephen Tatton

Stephen Tatton is a partner of Launch787, but he has so far failed to get us his bio. Therefore, we scold him publicly right here...

Andrew Allen-Aguilar

Andrew Allen-Aguilar was born in raised in Austin, TX. He attended Anderson High School in northwest Austin and graduated in 1998. After graduating, he became somewhat of an academic nomad, attending 3 different colleges in two states before transferring into the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin.

It was during his time studying accounting in the McCombs school that Andrew met Stephen Tatton at one of local buzz band Endochine's live performances. Not long after, the two were asked to help the band market

themselves to local and national music fans. SureFire Media + Promotion, the pair's first business, was the result. Throughout college and grad school, the two worked to promote and market various bands and events from Alpha Rev to Austin City Limits. Four classes shy of a masters in public accounting, Andrew took a break from his coursework to work full-time for SureFire, and less than a year later, Stephen and Andrew parlayed their knowledge of the music industry into a record label called Sea Change Records.

Having collaborated on numerous successful events in the past, Andrew and Stephen joined Matt to create Launch787 in early 2009. All three businesses are alive and thriving, making it difficult for Andrew to go back to school and finish his masters degree (which he has to do by 2010).
